Bon Courage Estate - One of South Africa's top wines of origin

After a record 205 entries for the fourth annual SA Terroir Wine Awards, Bon Courage Estate from Robertson clearly made its mark by being one of the top achievers to have two national winners. Terroir is the international wine term for a specific winegrowing terrain and for this competition only wines made from grapes from a specific ward, estate or single vineyard could be entered. Bon Courage Estate delivered the Top Cabernet Sauvignon with the Bon Courage Inkará Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 and Top Colombard with the Bon Courage Andre’s Fame Colombard 2009.

They also received the award for the Top White Blend in the Robertson district with the Bon Courage Gooseberry Bush 2009 (only for export) and the Top Dessert Wine in the district with the Bon Courage White Muscadel 2008. The limited release Inkará Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were carefully handpicked and selected from terroir specific vineyards to produce this premium wine. It was delicately oak matured for more complexity and has great ageing potential. The Colombard’s attraction lies in its fresh and lively character and is a delightful summer quaffer.Available from the estate and selected retail outlets throughout the country. INKARA SHIRAZ SIGNIFIES “A TRADITION OF QUALITY”

The popular Shiraz grape has proved to be one of Bon Courage’s success stories.

The track record of the Bon Courage Inkara Shiraz is remarkable and consistent.   The 2008 Inkara Shiraz received the award as Top Shiraz at the 2010 SA Terroir Wine Awards as well as a Gold Medal at the Syrah-du-Monde 2010 for the 3rd year.  This wine was also awarded 4 stars at the annual SA Wine Magazine Shiraz Challenge.

The Syrah-du-Monde 2010 competition brought together 387 wines from 27 countries, making this competition one of the world’s top events for Shiraz wines.

Syrah-du-Monde has progressively distinguished itself from other international competitions thanks to quality standards that are very strict and by remaining faithful to its founding principles: diversity, quality and high standards.

On the home market Bon Courage Estate was awarded a National Certificate for the 2008 Inkara Shiraz at the fifth annual SA Terroir Wine Awards 2010. The estate was also crowned as District Champion with the 2008 Inkara Cabernet Sauvignon and 2010 Andre’s Fame Colombard.  Since the first SA Terroir Wine Awards in 2006, the estate has clearly shown that its terroir is superb and versatile for a number of varietals.

Bon Courage was also acknowledged as the top performer off the Terroir Wine Awards, since the first competition was held in 2006, with 7 National Certificates for different cultivars, sparkling wine and fortified wines.

Jacques Bruwer, winemaker of the estate, initiated the Inkara flagship range.  “Inkará” is a play on his children’s names (Inge, Karli and André) and pays tribute to the fourth generation of Bruwers on the Estate.  He describes the wine as complex with layers of red berried fruit, mulberry, chocolate, espresso flavours as well as sweet spice and smoky oak.

Be sure to visit Bon Courage Estate and try this award winning wine.  André and Jacques are confident that you will enjoy it in the genuine spirit of the passion and dedication with which it was made!

Inkará Shiraz (Limited Release) 2008 can be purchased from Bon Courage Estate or selected retail outlets throughout the country.

BON COURAGE EXCELLS WITH ITS YOUNG WINES

The South African Young Wine Show - presented annually by the South African National Wine Show Association (SANW) - gives winemakers the opportunity to showcase the pick of their current vintage. The eight participating wine regions are Robertson, Worcester, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Oranje-Vaal, Olifants River, Swartland and Klein Karoo.

The mission of the South African Young Wine Show is to judge the quality of wines that are still at the beginning of the vinification process - within the year of production. In this way, the industry can give recognition to the production capabilities of a wine cellar.

Bon Courage Estate has performed consistently well in the pass years and was once again the top achiever at the ROBERTSON YOUNG WINE SHOW 2009 by having 9 Champion wines and 19 Class winners (the best wine on the show in their respective categories).
